Unbuilt
/ multi-residential / social housing / urbanisation
Project Goal:
Redevelopment of the heritage-listed Sirius building into a mix of social, affordable and market housing. The context of this also has the responsibility of responding to the Sydney housing market and its mixed international demographic. The achievement of this new model of social housing will be able to be replicated around Australia and is expected to provide housing to the most vulnerable members of the community
Response:
Unbuilt has been created offering flexibility to those who want to be a part of something which is normally inaccessible. Using new building technologies we are replacing the standardised living format with one that is crafted with the resident and those who want to invest into a new framework of living. Kitchen, bathroom and laundry wet areas remain fixed allowing the user to customise 60% of the space and hold a sense of ownership of what they have crafted. Mixing social, affordable and private housing, Unbuilt is an example of what creating and building together can harness amongst an ever-growing population.
